Vickie Lane Hicks

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vickie Lane Hicks of Alcoa, Tennessee on August 6, 2024 at 6:17pm with her family by her side after a courageous battle with ALS.

Vickie was born on August 11, 1963 in Chatsworth, Georgia to the Union of Dwane and Zora Carroll. 

The love she had for her family was apparent. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 34 years, Frankie Dean Hicks, her son, James Raper “Bubba” (Kristen) and children, Kaylee Raper, Zoē Raper, and Weston Raper; daughter, Vanessa Raper and children, Brady Ballew and Zaccary Mieloch; and bonus daughter, Deliah Richardson “Rae Rae” (Chaston) and children, Dylan Richardson and Noah Richardson. 

Vickie had a large family including eight siblings. Two of which, Judy Dyer and Marsha Roberts both of Dalton, Georgia, spent an abundance of time helping to care for her and adding happiness and laughter to an otherwise difficult time. Other siblings include, Sylvia Grigsby of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, Johnny Carroll of Versailles, Kentucky, David Carroll of Eton, Georgia, James H. Carroll of Alton, Missouri, Randall Carroll of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Linda Ash of Lafayette, Georgia. She had many nieces, nephews, and extended family. 

Predeceased by her parents, Vickie’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, and many friends who were all better for her presence. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 10, 2024 at 4pm at The Mains, 403 Meadow Road, Greenback, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the ALS Foundation East Tennessee Chapter.
