Mr. Verlin Henry Franklin

Verlin Henry Franklin, born July 30, 1937 and entered Heaven’s Gate December 18, 2019. Verlin is survived by his wife of 39 years, Melissa Franklin, sons Marvin Franklin (Diann) and Brian Franklin, one granddaughter Melissa Strickland (James), and great granddaughter Lorelei Strickland. He is also survived by brothers, J.C. Franklin (Joyce), Ross Franklin (Elisa), and Roger Franklin (Heidi); and one sister, Wilma Faye Tallent and many nieces and nephews. Verlin is also survived by his “brothers of the heart”, Benny P’Pool and Glen Bush. Verlin is preceeded in death by his parents Luther and Mary Tyler Franklin, sister Glesstis Harrill, and brothers Raymond Franklin and Robert Franklin. Verlin worked as a CSX (formerly L & N) railroad conductor and engineer for 37 years prior to his retirement. Verlin is a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church. Memorial Service will be held at Madison Avenue Baptist Church, January 11, 2020. Family will receive friends at the church 1:00 – 3:00 pm with service immediately following. Dr. Greg Heisler officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
