Teddy Joseph Harrison Dec. 8, 1942 – Sept 16, 2021 Teddy J Harrison, 78, of Maryville, TN died peacefully in his sleep at home and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept 16, 2021. He was born on Dec. 8, 1942, in Mershons, Kentucky. His family moved when he was a young boy, and he grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. Before retiring in Tennessee, he lived 22 years of his adult life in Florida, living in Brandon, Tampa, and Zephyrhills areas. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Edith Hurley-Holt Harrison, his sister, Peggy Sue Otto and his sister, Brenda Karen Wilson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 through 1966 as an Armor Intelligence Specialist. As a Teamsters Union member, he drove trucks for Roadway, Motor Convoy, Inc and Allied Systems as well as driving his own tractor-trailer at one time. In 1977, he was presented the Eagle Award for Professionalism in Safety by Allied Systems. He loved motorcycling, was a NASCAR fan, and enjoyed meeting and talking to people he met while riding, at events, and to his neighbors walking by his home. He especially cared for his pets, most recently by his dogs, Teddy Bear and Smokey Bear and by Polo, his cat. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Ginna Mclsaac (Burge) Harrison, his son, Joseph Dale (LeighAnne) Harrison, his grandchildren, Hannah Harrison and Conner Harrison of Myrtle Beach, SC, and his stepsons, Matthew (Tina) Burge of Atlanta, GA and Edward Burge of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by his Aunt Mary Lou Lily of Lexington, KY, many cousins, nephews, nieces, their children, by caring sisters and brothers-in-law, and by friends. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Monday, October 18, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. in Hampton Hall (Smitheventcenters.com) in Maryville, TN. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded. The family suggest, instead of flowers that a memorial donation be made to the American Cancer Society or the wounded Warrior Project. “I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
