Mrs. Stefanie Sims Henry

February 1, 1960 — October 22, 2021

Stefanie Sims Henry went to be at eternal rest on Friday, October 22, 2021. She was a loving and supportive mother, wife, and friend. She was always there to offer some sweet tea and let you talk through your troubles. While often feisty, Stefanie would speak her mind but maintain a level of compassion rarely seen. Stefanie was born to Wayne and Jimmie Sims on February 1, 1960 in Chattanooga, TN. She had an adventurous childhood with friends. She graduated from Tyner High School in 1978. After high school, Stefanie received her degree in Education from the University of Tennessee and had plans to be a teacher. She taught for several decades and exuded care and love for her students and the literature that she taught. She made her mark on their papers and on their lives. She also enjoyed singing her entire life and participated in her high school varsity choir as well as the UT Madrigal singers. Her daughter, Shelby, was born in 1994 and was the light of her life. She adored Shelby and was always there for a simple chat to complain about random events or to heavily discuss feelings. Stefanie supported her daughter through every step of life and was able to see her graduate this year. In 2011, Stefanie married Bud Henry and found the love that would shape her life. She always made sure her husband had homemade biscuits and gravy every weekend and a kiss when Tennessee scored a touchdown. She deeply loved Bud and was always laughing and smiling in his presence. Stefanie is preceded in death by her mother, Jimmie Sims. She is survived by her husband, Bud Henry; daughter, Shelby White; sister, Gretta Emery; father, Wayne Sims; stepchildren, Chris, Brandy, Jenny, and Aaron Henry; her would be son in law, Michael Ratliff; and many loved family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family asks to please donate to the East Tennessee Alzheimer’s Association. A celebration of life will take place this spring to allow the family to grieve and truly celebrate her life. The dress code will be orange and white. Go Vols!
