Sharon Bateman, age 77, passed away at her home in Seymour, TN on Friday, November 12, 2021 after a long illness. Sharon was born March 28, 1944 in Jefferson City, TN. She is survived by her spouse Dana Johnston, her brother David Bateman of Knoxville, her sister Susan McGhee of Knoxville, her niece Tanya Anderson of Jefferson City, her cousins Diane Ellis of Knoxville, David Black of Corryton, and Susie Lampson of Johnson City, her lifelong friends Sue Sorice of New Smyrna Beach and Lloyd Phillips of Jefferson City, and her beloved pets Jenni and Dandi. Sharon is preceded in death by her mother Frankie Hicks Batemann, her sister Dorothy Phillips and her brother Bobby Bateman. Sharon attended Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City and held a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. Sharon was a retired police officer from the City of Orlando Police Department in Orlando, FL. Following her retirement from the police department, Sharon worked as a Daycare Licensing Representative for the Florida Department of Children and Families in Orlando, FL.
