Miss Rebecca Rowland

Rebecca Rowland, 64, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, February 27, 2018. Born on August 8, 1953 to parents William Clark and Ruth Erin Cathcart Rowland, Rebecca grew up in Maryville and went on to attend college at the University of Tennessee, where she obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music. Rebecca served God with her music, playing piano and organ in several area churches over the years, at teaching music out of her home. Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Susan Hocking, and now joins them in heaven. Surviving are her niece, Kimberly Hocking, of Asheville, NC; nephew, Christopher Hocking and wife Brianna of Hendersonville, NC; brother-in-law, Sam Hocking, of Asheville, NC; cousins Kathy and Steve Blair, of Atlanta, GA, and cousins Angela Culliton and family of Maryville, TN. Rebecca loved her family, her friends and neighbors, her church family, and her animals. She had a caring spirit, a sharp wit and infectious laugh, and an unshakable faith. Her memorial service will be held at Smith Life Event Center, 1404 Tuckaleechee Pike in Maryville at 2pm, Saturday, March 10, 2018, with Pastor Rob Strohe officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services. Memorials may made to Regions Bank for Word of Life Lutheran Church in her honor.
