Peggy Joyce French Fisher

Peggy Joyce French Fisher of Alcoa, TN. formerly of South Bend, IN and Oxford, MS died peacefully at home on Friday, October 8, 2021 at the age of 85 after complications from Vascular Dementia. Peggy is survived by her children, Steve Fisher (Diane) of Lakeville, IN; Lynda Ludlow (Jim) of Avon, IN; Debra Fisher of Westfield, IN; and Susan Manring (Tim) of Alcoa, TN. Peggy had 10 grandchildren Jessica Fisher, Joshua Ludlow, Derrick Hamilton, Joshua Fisher, Michael Ludlow (Rita), Drew Hamilton (Amanda), Samuel Ludlow, Brooke Counts (Josh), Taylor Fisher and Kyah Manring. Peggy had 6 great grandchildren Lily Giles, Daisy Giles, Michael Giles, Liam Thebeau, Riley Hamilton and Anisa Ludlow. Peggy was born on February 26, 1936 to the late Lloyd and Myrtie French. She graduated from Taylor High School and Indiana University. She married Rufus “Russ” Taylor Fisher, her high school sweetheart on December 10, 1955. After moving to Illinois, the couple welcomed their 4 children. Peggy and Russ then moved to South Bend, IN where they spent the majority of their lives. Upon retirement in 1998, both she and her Russ moved to Oxford, MS and built their dream home that Peggy designed. Her children remember her as an independent and strong woman who encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Peggy loved being a homemaker and mother and took pride in many of her hobbies / interests. She was a talented artist that took pride in her woodworking and art skills and displayed many of her items around her home. She and her husband both loved gardening, traveling and Genealogy. Peggy was an active member in the Gardening Club, Daughters of the American Revolution and her church’s Sunday School. Both she and her husband worshipped at Christ the King Lutheran Church in South Bend and North Oxford Baptist Church in Oxford, MS. Peggy’s husband of almost 66 years passed away in May of 2020. However, due to COVID restrictions, there was no memorial service. Therefore, a joint Memorial service is scheduled on Saturday, December 11th, 2021 at 11:00 am at North Oxford Baptist Church in Oxford, MS with a reception to follow. This will be the day following their 66th Wedding Anniversary. Fish Robinson will officiate the ceremony. All who knew and loved Russ and Peggy and encouraged to attend and celebrate the incredible love that they had for Jesus Christ, one another and their family/friends.
