Mr. Otis Ray "O.R., Ray" Stokes

Otis Ray Stokes (O.R., Ray), 83, of Maryville, TN, formerly of New Johnsonville, TN, passed away of natural causes, with his family surrounding him, on May 22, 2019, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Beloved husband for almost 63 years of Wilda (Harris); loving father of Melinda (Jeff Black) and Jessica (Gary Rochelle); dear grandfather of Katelyn Rochelle Scarpino (Joe), Kelsey Rochelle, Jackson Black and Macynn Black. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Minerva (Goff) Stokes and survived by his siblings Opal Faye Chitty, Jerry Stokes (Joy), Margarette Holmes and Bernice Dean. Ray was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1962 and retired in 1996 from Inland Container Corporation where he served as Maintenance Supervisor for over 25 years. He was an active member of Trace Creek Baptist Church in New Johnsonville, deeply involved in the Masonic Lodge, and an avid golfer throughout his lifetime. After moving to Maryville, Ray joined Dotson Memorial Baptist Church, delivered for Meals on Wheels, and served as a council member at Asbury Place, where he and Wilda resided. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 on Monday, June 10, 2019, at 814 Dotson Memorial Road, Maryville, with visitation beginning at 10:30, and a luncheon to follow.
