Mickey Joseph Spicer of Maryville, went home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2016. Mickey was born on April 3, 1947 in Narrows, Virginia. Mickey was a Veteran of the United States Army and proud of his service to his country. He retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority. Mickey professed his faith in our Savior Jesus Christ and was a born again Christian. In his spare time Mickey enjoyed watching UT football and basketball as well as taking long walks with his beloved companion, Bear. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha Dennis Spicer; his son, J. Scott Spicer and his wife Jennifer Dawson Spicer and one granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth Spicer, all of Maryville, He is also survived by two sisters, Ruth Kelley and Deborah (Steve) Baggette, and one brother, Jetty Spicer (Connie), several nieces and nephews, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Mickey was an organ donor and, according to his wishes, was cremated. A celebration of his life will be held on February 4, 2016 at Laurel Bank Baptist Church (located beside William Blount High School), 211 County Farm Road, Friendsville, Tennessee at 6:30 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of service. A private interment ceremony will be held at the Southeastern Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery on John Sevier Highway.
