Melissa Anne Kennedy

Melissa Anne Kennedy, DVM, PhD, passed away May 19, 2023. Born in Knoxville, TN on January 13, 1959, Melissa received her DVM and PhD from the University of Tennessee and spent her career as an Associate Professor at UTCVM educating future veterinarians. She traveled to Africa several times during her life-long support of all wildlife. She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas Judson Kennedy, Jr. and Barbara Benton Kennedy. She will be greatly missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Judy Kennedy, and Michael and Laura Kennedy; nephews Elijah (Lauren), Joshua (Susan), and Logan Kennedy; grand-nieces Grace and Cecilia Kennedy; along with scores of friends and former students. Funeral services will be private at Melissa’s request. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Young-Williams Animal Center, UTCVM CAIT Program (tiny.utk.edu/givetocait), or your local animal shelter.
