Mary Ann Sparks was born on October 15, 1957, to Margaret Ann Humphrey Jackson Spradling and Richard Lee Jackson in Decatur, Alabama. (Don’t hold that against her, TN fans, her blood was true TN orange.) She passed away peacefully at home in Maryville, TN on January 2, 2024, after a short battle with a Glioblastoma multiforme (GMB) brain tumor.
Mary Ann was one of the most loving people you could ever meet. She and her smile, which brightened up any room, will be missed by all that knew her. If you ask anyone in Mary Ann’s life, they will tell you she was always there for everyone with no questions asked. Mary Ann had worked as a secretary at Custom Timber Log Homes, as a realtor, an airbag technician, a bus driver, and was an awesome mom and grandmother. She was a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Home Builders Association, and the BBB with Custom Timber. Mary Ann’s biggest pride and joy were her grandchildren of whom she thought the world.
Mary Ann is proceeded in death by the love of her life Bo (Clayton) Sparks, her mother Ann Spradling (Allen Spradling – still kicking it, go papaw!), and her father Richard Lee Jackson.
She leaves behind her stepfather Allen Spradling of Maryville, sons Christopher Sparks (Jennifer) of Maryville, Doug Sparks (Tracey) of Maryville, and Rich Mays (Steph) of Athens, and four grandchildren, Cody, Morgan, Connor, and Erin. She also leaves behind several brothers and sisters as well as many nieces and nephews. Way too many for my little brain to list, sorry all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at her home on January 13, 2024, from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks for any donations to be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation (see link below).
