Dr. Lynn Allen York

Dr. Lynn Allen York, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019. Dr. York was born in Lenoir City, TN on May 26, 1936. He earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from UT Knoxville and went on to serve as an Aeronautical Engineer at NASA Johnson Space Center, and worked on the Apollo, Skylab and Space Shuttle missions. Dr. York retired from NASA after 25 years of service. He also was the owner of York Aviation and was a licensed pilot, as well as aviation instructor for 49 years. Dr. York is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Grace York of Alcoa, TN. He is survived by daughter Katherine Nichols (husband Charles) of Tuscaloosa, AL; sons Stephen York (wife Debbie) of Cookeville, TN and Robert York (wife Mary) of Katy, TX; grandchildren Dylan, Zoe and Ryan Nichols, and Tyler, Austin, Bronson and Connor York; great granddaughter Laykelynn York; and brother Larry York of Missouri City, TX. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2019 from 2-4pm at Houston Memorial Presbyterian Church, 813 Front Street, Maryville, TN.
