John Hardy Cable, Jr.

John Hardy Cable, Jr. passed away in a peaceful sleep in the early hours of February 1, 2023. He was a watch and jewelry repairman for 47 years and retired from Phillips Jewelry in 2006. He enjoyed his work, his customers, and was everyone’s friend.

John was married to Janice O’Neal in 1966. He was preceded in death by parents Anna Lou Langley and John Hardy Cable, Sr; sisters Wanda (infant) and Sue Cable Williams; sister-in-law Shirley Cable; in-laws Bill and Velma O’Neal; and brothers-in-law Glenn Robert O’Neal and Johnnie Barbra.

Survived by his wife Janice; brothers Wayne Cable and Gene (JoAnn) Cable; special nephew Billy (Rhonda) Cable; brother-in-law Oliver Williams; sisters-in-law Joyce O’Neal Barbra and Pat O’Neal; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, 2018 W. Clinch Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37916 (www.etch.com) in John’s honor. Visitation will be Sunday, February 5, 2023, from 3pm to 4pm, followed by a service from 4pm to 5pm, at Grandview Cemetery. Reverend Drew Flanagin will officiate.
