Gerald F. Meyers (Jerry) of Maryville passed suddenly on September 17, 2024. He was born in August of 1941 to parents Gerald and Mary in McKees Rocks, PA. After meeting the love of his life Marie, his wife of 61 years, he completed a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
A recognized industry expert in the field of metallurgy, he led a distinguished career spanning over 60 years with companies such as General Motors, Kolene Incorporated, Delamin Ltd. and H&M Metal Processing. He continued working as an independent consultant up until his death.
Jerry's upbringing instilled the value of hard work which was evident throughout his life. He was frequently seen mowing his lawn with a push mower even though he owned a riding mower; he viewed the riding mower as something "old people" used.
He also never met a stranger, as he would strike up a conversation with anyone he met and share life stories as if they’d been lifelong friends (which they would always become from that point on).
An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia in his spare time.
A devoted husband and father, the happiness of his family was always his first priority and he derived great joy from being able to provide for his wife and sons, often making personal sacrifices to do so.
Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 61 years, Marie, his sons Eric (Bryan) and Scott (Kathleen), his sisters Leah Cooper (Thomas), Patricia Goslak (Gerald) and Constance Anderson (David), his beloved dog Lizzie, and many nieces and nephews, close friends and neighbors.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to honor Jerry’s memory make a donation to a charity of their choice in his name.
