Gary Edward Dyer, age 67 passed away at Blount Memorial Hospital on Friday December 3, 2021. Gary had a heart of gold, a wonderful sense of humor and loved his family. He loved music and passed that love of music on to his sister Kathy’s daughters. There are many wonderful memories for his nieces of listening to music with him and being introduced to all different types of music by their uncle Gary, who was more like a big brother to them. He truly was such a kind, gentle soul. He is survived by his children, Brooke, Bryan and Jason; grandchildren Mollie and Madeline Newsom, Charlie Dyer; sisters Kathy Johnson and Judy Cool; several nieces & nephews as well as his former wife and lifelong friend, Ann Bryson and his good friend of over 30 years, Robbie Loge. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Robbie for being such a good friend to Gary for so many years and for trying to help him and look out for him. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Violet Dyer, brothers Mike, Troy and Don Dyer. Gary had a vulnerability about him that made those who loved him want to protect him, especially his mother Violet. He adored his parents and the family takes great comfort in knowing that he is finally truly at peace and is reunited with them in heaven. Addiction is a vicious epidemic. You will lose your loved one over and over through the course of their life. The person you lay to rest will not be the person you knew and will want to remember. It is on us to keep our eyes and hearts open towards those suffering and sick. 1 Peter 5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. Arrangements were handled privately by the family with Cremation by Grandview. No services are planned.
