Devan Earl Brown age 68 of Maryville entered his heavenly home August 16, 2023, with his wife and daughters at his side and sweet friends singing and praying. He was born April 12, 1955, in New Albany, IN. His mother soon relocated with him and his sister, Jan, to Montgomery, AL to live with her parents. Devan had many happy memories at his grandparents’ house. He was a graduate of Auburn University in Building Science and later completed his Master’s and PhD in Business Management at California Coast University. He pursued his passion for construction for over 40 years and later served as a chaplain for Blount County Sheriff's dept and Asbury Place. He also enjoyed working security for Solid Ground.
He and his wife of 46 years, Mary, moved to Maryville in 2008 and considered it home. They were blessed to have their daughters, Amanda and Jessica, here as well as sons-in-law, Adam and Chris, and grandchildren Tristian, Landon, Reagan and Taylor, along with other family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Mary, his daughters, Amanda and Jessica, as well as his sister, Jan Mavity and her husband John of Chattanooga, and niece and nephew Samantha and Johnny. Devan loved going on mission trips, camping, vacationing in Gulf Shores, playing with his grandchildren, and just being with family. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church where he loved serving as a deacon and Life Group Leader for many years.
Devan's life was cut way too short by Alzheimer’s that he fought for 6 years. We want to thank the volunteers at the Bartlett program for supporting him and Mary during this difficult time. Donations may be made to AlzTennessee.org or Victory Baptist Church in his memory.
