Barbara Butler Law, age 64, passed away peacefully at home on October 8, 2015 with her family by her side. She fought a courageous fight against colon cancer and made it her mission to tell everyone she met to be screened. Barbara was the second of five daughters born to Verlon and Josephine Butler (both now deceased) of Butler’s Wrecker Service. Barbara attended Rocky Branch Bethel Baptist Church. She graduated from Walland High School in 1969. She retired from BellSouth/AT&T with 32 years of service. During her career she was honored with an award for having the least recurrent visits for the district on telephone repairs and installations. She was known as a very hard worker. She enjoyed her family immensely and loved cooking for them. Having worked at Joe’s Drive-In while in high school, she took pride in being able to make hamburgers, cakes, and pies that tasted like theirs. Barbara spent many hours in her rose gardens with David Austin roses, her favorite. She was a member of the Holston Rose Society. She loved flowers of all kinds, especially those that were fragrant and attracted butterflies and hummingbirds. Survivors include her daughter, Melissa Law; son, Travis Hughes; grandchildren, Riley and Claire; sisters, Brenda Gregory & Doug, Sandra Butler, Vivian White & Rick, Ada Hall & Jerry; her aunts and uncles, many nieces and nephews and close friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 11th, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM in the fellowship hall at Rocky Branch Missionary Baptist Church, 4620 Cambridge Rd, Walland, TN 37886.
