Steve Brown entered into his eternal reward on February 6, 2024. Born Allyn Stephens Brown, Jr. the first of two children to Allyn Stephens Brown, Sr. and Ellen Kellogg, he soon became known as Steve to all who knew him. Steve was born March 8, 1946, in Sayre, PA. He graduated from Cherry Hill High School in New Jersey. He went on to graduate from Grove City College where he met his wife Peggy, and they married in 1968.
Steve began working with his father at the Brown-Thompson Newspaper and went on to become co-publisher. After working at the paper, he remained in the printing industry for the better part of his career. Steve and Peggy moved to Edinboro, Pennsylvania where they raised their children. After their time in Edinboro, they had a few relocations and then made their home in the Knoxville, TN area.
Steve loved to read, was passionate about handball and golf, and loved spending time with family and friends. He was a kind man who always showed tolerance and patience and enjoyed everyone he met. He found a way to empathize and care for all, even those many would think do not deserve it. He loved learning and sharing knowledge to help others grow. He was a wonderful man who left a legacy through his children and grandchildren and all who were close to him. The impact he had on those that loved him will continue for generations making the world a better place.
Steve is survived by his wife Margaret (Peggy) Susan Lutz-Brown, his daughter Kerrie Nelson and her husband Jeffrey Nelson, his son Derek Brown and his wife Kristan Brown, and his grandchildren Jacob Nelson, Nick Brown and Megan Brown.
We love and miss you dearly, and know you are patiently waiting to see us all again.
The family will hold a private memorial service to celebrate and honor Steve’s life.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” – John 14:1-3
